foster update: "Benny has very much transitioned to home life very easily, from day 1 he was already eating, asking for pats, wanting to go on walks and sleeping in all parts of the home. He is a beautiful boy with floppy ears that loves being patted, loves food and loves sleeping anywhere.
He is very much use to a home routine and will let us know when it’s time to go potty by standing around the front door. He hasn’t had any accidents and will hold it throughout the night to make sure he can wee right outside under his favourite tree. He enjoys walking from 2-3 times a day with us, for fairly long walks, around 15-20 minutes. He is very good on the lead and never pulls. He will look at other people and dogs on walks but not pay too much attention.
Benny is very gentle, kind and calm; he picks up the routine very fast. He does not bark ever, even when the neighbourhood dogs are having a barking match or when dogs during the walk bark at him. He can now go up and down the stairs all by himself (only after 3 days)! He has learnt that in order to get food that he must be calm and responds well to ‘stay’. We use this around the house and now picks up that he must stay at the door of the pantry if we are preparing food.
During the holiday period, we had a lot of people coming over and to our surprise Benny was very excited and would calmly be patted by multiple people on the couch. He is very affectionate, enjoys kisses, cuddles and being close to humans. He is not afraid of any home things such as vacuum cleaners, washing machines, microwaves; he usually ignores these and falls asleep!"
Hi I’m Benjamin and I am super excited to start my next chapter, could that be with you? I am in foster care for the silly season and I've already learnt so much! I'm super ready to be your pet! I have lived in inner city Sydney and have confidently conquered all the sights and sounds of suburbia.
I am a very lovable boy who just loves being around people. My best suited home would be with someone that is at home most of the time as sometimes it can take a little bit for me to settle. If you work casual hours, part time or work at home, I'm your guy! If you have another medium/large doggy friend then I am much happier to be to be left with a canine companion - I would suit full time workers if you have another large breed canine companion for me to hang out with during the day while you're at work.
I can be a bit excitable at times so a home with older kids is best as I’m just not used to my size yet and can jump on you - but I am learning to be calm in the home. Sometimes I can be excited when I first see you, but don’t worry I will settle right down. I really like treats too, which helps me a lot to learn new tricks.
I would love to have access to a backyard/grassed courtyard so I have the option to lay out in the sun during the day if I want too, and when we go on walks together I even know how to walk gentle on lead. I love being indoors so a small yard is fine by me as I just need somewhere to call my own to stretch my long leggies.
If you would like to adopt me, I'll let my foster carers know I've found my forever home and you can meet me at our Western Sydney adoption facility.
