*Groot is in foster care (in a unit/apartment) in the inner city of Sydney and loving it! He is still available for adoption*
Update from foster:
"Groot is fitting into pet life really well. He has a calm, relaxed temperament at home, and mostly likes relaxing on the couch or on his bed pretty much all the time. He likes spending time with us, whether it's sleeping, resting, or watching us eat!
He does sometimes have his moments of silliness, running up and down the apartment or playing with his toys. He is also very food motivated, and gets excited when it's close to brekky or dinner time! He particularly likes his kong filled with peanut butter and kibble.
He tends to do alright while home alone and we find playing calming dog music helps him calm down and sleep while we're away.
He is toilet trained, and lets us know when it's time to go outside and do his business."
This sweet senior with the most captivating ears is looking for his forever home. He's a gentle natured older soul who has his bouts of playfulness, but loves nothing more than sleeping on his bed or relaxing on the couch. Groot is looking forward to living a quiet and chilled out life, so a home in a quiet area would be best. If you're a homebody looking for a likeminded calm companion - Groot is your guy!
His best suited home would be a home with a backyard with 'colorbond' fencing, or a unit/apartment where someone is home more often than not/home all the time as he enjoys being indoors with his people. Maybe you work from home and are looking for a calm companion to keep you company during the day.
Groot can have his bouts of playfulness and sillies so a home without kids/elderly is best suited. Groot has very proudly conquered the training stairs at the adoption centre so may be able to learn stairs in his forever home with some treats and encouragement. He loves his food and treats so we think he will learn quickly in his forever home.
Groot would best suit a home with a low dog population - he has not met lots of dogs, so a slow introduction to other dogs would help him learn about the big wide world. Groot would like to be a single dog, so no other pets please! Like most greyhounds, he has spent most of his life in the company of other greyhounds, so Groot would likely enjoy meet ups with other greyhounds for a group walkie on the weekend.
This gentleman is just the sweetest guy - but you'll have to meet him to find out what all the fuss is about!
Groot is available to adopt from our Western Sydney Adoption facility, where you will get the unique opportunity to hand over/meet his foster carers and get in depth information from their experiences looking after him.
