*Raphael has started a new adventure and gone to foster care with a 9 year old male greyhound as a side kick - stay tuned for updates!*
"Raffy is a very chilled greyhound who loves hanging out in the shed with his foster dad, snoozing in the sawdust and unfazed by the noisy power tools from the construction site next door! He loves people, greeting visitors with a big waggly tail (and no jumping) and is always ready for pats and neck scratches! He enjoys treats and toys and is quickly learning the difference between human and doggie things, responding immediately to a gentle reminder when his curiosity for something new gets the better of him. He also has no interest in human couches or beds, preferring to nap on his own beds in the garden or lounge.
Raffy can also be quite the goofball. He has a very odd dance reserved specifically for bully stick treats which is very bizarre and drooly! He also gets very playful in the late afternoon and drags out a collection of squeaky toys and balls to chase about the backyard. He would love to play with another large dog at these times but our 9 yo greyhound will have none of it, so fetch with foster dad and then a quick walk will suffice."
Cawabunga dude!! Introducing Raphael, GAP’s very own ninja greyhound! On a break from fighting crime with his brothers, Raphael is looking for his forever home. Raphael is 3 years old and looking for a quiet home to lounge around in. He is affectionate and gentle natured and loves a scratch behind the ears and under the chin. He will lean on you for affection and rubs.
He would prefer a home with a backyard where he can lie around in the sun and while he does enjoy his people, he doesn’t mind being alone for a few hours and is therefore suitable to live with full time workers in a quiet area with a canine companion. He loves to play with toys, his favourite being the soccer ball, so one of these in his new home is a must! He enjoys splashing around in a clam shell pool on a hot day and also loves being inside on the couch or comfy bed when it's cold outside. He is still learning lead manners, so a home with an experienced owner who is willing to continue his training is preferable and would benefit from a harness as he can be excited at the start of his walks - he settles into loose leash walking after a minute or two.
When it comes to other dogs in the home, Raphael would love to be the centre of your world. Although having grown up with his ninja brothers, Raphael could be suited to living with another medium or large canine companion that would like a play buddy or someone to just chill out with as Raphael has shown he can be tolerant, play, or politely sniff and move on and give his canine companion some space. He is currently in foster care with another greyhound.
