*Barney has just gone into a foster home - stay tuned for updates!*
Updates from foster: It’s only been a few days but Barney has settled in really well and is making great progress.
Some of the things we’ve observed include: He is good with other dogs and respects their boundaries. He is initially shy and hesitant when meeting new people or in new environments, but he becomes comfortable quite quickly once given a little time. He is food motivated. He is learning to use stairs and is picking it up quickly. He is comfortable using a lift. He is a real velcro dog and loves affection and being close to his people. He sleeps well through the night. He walks well on lead when accompanied by another dog and appears to follow our greyhound Millie around a far bit. He loves playing with toys and enjoys chasing after them. He is a very good boy and super gentle. Having another greyhound I believe has been really helpful for him.
If Barney's sweet and soulful eyes have caught your attention, keep reading to find out if you could be the perfect fit for our special guy, Barney.
Barney is available to a home who can nurture a shy greyhound out of their shell. Barney requires a special home with a quiet lifestyle and a backyard with secure fencing where he can retreat to and enjoy the peace and quiet away from people when he needs it.
A home without children is a must for our shy Barney, however a calm, wise and understanding dog of any size (small or large) would be a lovely companion to help him build his pet skills and help him adapt to his new life with his forever family.
If you are someone who can provide a shy dog the structure, support, and ongoing confidence training that he needs to thrive as a pet, we'd love to hear from you.
Barney is available for fostering or adoption by discussion with GAP team. We can't wait to hear from Barney's perfect family!
