Marty is a handsome black boy with a big heart, a waggy tail and a wonderfully goofy personality! This lovely boy is happiest when he’s close to his people and would quite happily squeeze himself into your personal space just to make sure he doesn’t miss out on any pats.

Marty is a confident and curious boy who enjoys taking in everything around him. He loves having a good sniff, exploring new places and checking out what’s happening, all while keeping his happy tail wagging. He’s equally content wandering off to investigate something interesting or settling down for some quiet time.

People are definitely high on Marty’s list of favourite things. He loves being patted and enjoys having his humans nearby. He has a wonderfully affectionate nature and is the sort of boy who seems to think that being as close to you as possible is always a good idea. If you’re looking for a four-legged shadow with a big goofy grin, Marty could be your man! 

Marty has also shown some lovely social skills with other dogs. He can be very enthusiastic when first meeting smaller dogs, but he is able to refocus himself and settle with time. He happily enjoyed walking alongside another dog and was comfortable sharing space once everyone had settled. A compatible canine companion who matches his personality and energy would be a lovely fit for Marty, whether they are small, medium or large.

Marty enjoys getting out and about and is easy to guide on lead. He likes to keep a little tension on the lead as he explores, so he will enjoy continuing to build his loose-lead walking skills with his new family. He is responsive and straightforward to guide, making walks a lovely opportunity for him to discover the world while learning alongside his person.

Marty is a happy traveller who settles down in the car and is ready to relax once he’s aboard.  He does need a little help getting in and out of some vehicles, but once settled, he is very content to lie down and enjoy the journey.

Marty has an old hock injury, so he will be best suited to a comfortable lifestyle with gentle walks and plenty of opportunities to enjoy life at his own pace. He has also been described as being good around chickens and young children in his previous home environment.

Marty would suit a loving home where he can enjoy a relaxed routine, gentle adventures and lots of human companionship. He would be very happy in a home where his people are keen to include him in everyday life — whether that means heading out for a leisurely stroll, exploring the backyard or simply having a cuddle on the couch.

Marty is a big boy with an even bigger personality, and he doesn’t always realise quite how much room his long legs and gorgeous body take up! He has a wonderfully affectionate “I’d like to be right beside you” attitude and may happily park himself in your personal space, lean against you or squeeze into the spot you thought was yours. His new family will need to enjoy having a very loving, slightly oversized shadow following them around!

If Marty has a canine housemate, the best match will simply be a dog with a compatible personality and energy level. He could enjoy the company of a lower-energy smaller dog or a suitable medium or large dog who appreciates his friendly nature and can give him space to settle into his new surroundings.
