Location:Hunter Valley Mid Coast (Maitland/ Muswellbrook/Newcastle/Forster)
Layla is a truly special girl with a zest for life and a spirit that inspires everyone she meets. After a racing injury led to the loss of one of her legs, she’s adapted with remarkable grace and confidence. Her three-legged status hasn’t slowed her down one bit — she’s energetic, joyful, and eager to explore the world.
Now thriving in foster care, Layla settled into her new environment with ease from day one. She’s toilet trained, comfortable in the car, and has shown herself to be affectionate without being overly dependent. Whether she’s leaning in for a cuddle or relaxing on her own, she’s a calm, well-balanced companion. Importantly, Layla displays no signs of separation anxiety, making her an ideal addition to a variety of home settings.
Social Skills & Personality:
Layla currently shares her home with a staffy and has befriended several medium to large dogs. While she’s generally dog-social, she’s not comfortable around small dogs, particularly in close living quarters, though she can be calmly redirected on walks.
She’s happy to share food and toys with humans, but she prefers not to share with other dogs — a common quirk that’s being gently managed in foster care.
Layla has a bright, inquisitive personality and a mischievous streak. She’s currently learning that kitchen counters aren’t treasure chests, but her foster carers report she’s responding well to gentle boundaries and consistent guidance.
Home Requirements:
A home without small dogs or cats
A secure outdoor space where she can explore safely
Minimal stairs, as she's still getting used to navigating them
A family or individual who will embrace her playful, cheeky nature while providing structure and affection
Layla is looking for a home that sees past her missing leg and appreciates the vibrant, loving dog she truly is. With her sparkling personality and steady progress, she’s ready to bring joy and companionship to a forever family.
