**Monkey is attending our Macarthur Pets Gregory Hills adoption day on Saturday 15th June from 10am-1pm**
**Monkey is living in a foster home - please reach out to the GAP team if you want to meet him and his foster family**
Theres no time for monkeying around when it comes to this sweet boy! Monkey is one of a kind and will have you swinging with love as soon as you meet him!
Foster care update:
**Monkey is definitely not just another black greyhound! He is a lovely buddy to have around the house. He has learnt where his toileting area is outside and can hold all night from 9pm to 7am.
He is not bothered by household noises like the washing machine or vacuum.
He loves to laze in front of the fire on a cold night, perfectly content to watch the activity of the household move around him.
He understands the command ‘on your bed’ and knows he is not allowed on lounges or upstairs in our house and does not test the boundaries with these.
He learns new things very quickly with treats and praise and if he does something we don’t want him to, a quick ‘no’ or ‘uh uh’ is enough to get him to move away, eg licking something in the dishwasher.
Monkey only needs 2 short 15 minute walks a day. He is perfect on the lead and easy to redirect away from something if needed.
He has learned where his bed is inside and happily settles there. He eats well and isn’t fussy with his food.
He is suited to a small home or even an apartment. He loves being inside and is quiet and calm around the house.
He is excited to see his lead and go for a walk but isn’t jumpy. We think he would be good for a family with children from late primary.
He’d be a great homework or reading buddy and would be easy for older children to learn about taking care of a pet. He isn’t anxious or needy and is calm when receiving pats and attention.
He likes his squeaky ball, but doesn’t need lots of playtime to be happy. He just likes hanging around with people and watching what they are up to.
He also likes to be somewhere he can watch birds and the world moving around him. But doesn’t bark at things in the yard.
He can be redirected away from looking at our chickens in their backyard run with the command ‘leave it.’
He can settle well for 4-6 hours on his own and could build to full time hours.
Monkey can do stairs well, but would be suited to a property with minimal stairs due to an old injury.
He is easy to brush and does not mind being touched. He is not protective of his food or his toys and may be fine with younger kids, but not tested at this stage.**
If you think you have the perfect home for this lovely boy, please come and meet him at our Western Sydney facility. He is waiting to soak up all the love you can give and can’t wait to give it all back in return.
