Meet Thelma 🩷
Thelma is a beautiful fawn female Greyhound who is still learning that the world can be a safe and wonderful place.
A shy and cautious girl, Thelma can be quite hesitant when faced with new people and unfamiliar surroundings. She travels well in car however she needed a little time and encouragement before she feels comfortable on outings. Once she was out and exploring, her confidence gradually grows.
On lead, Thelma is wonderfully soft and easy to handle. She doesn’t pull and is gentle in her movements, although she keeps her tail tucked and remains watchful of everything around her. Off lead, she was very cautious and takes time to adjust to her new surroundings.
Thelma isn’t an overly social girl and can feel apprehensive when approached, so she will need an understanding, patient owner who is happy to let her settle in at her own pace. A quiet, calm home where she can build confidence without too much pressure would suit her beautifully.
Despite her cautious nature, Thelma showed that she can interact well with other large dogs. She showed no obvious prey drive when assessed with a small dog, although her overall apprehension made it difficult to get a definitive picture of her small-dog or cat sociability. These areas would need to be managed thoughtfully in her new home.
Thelma may not be the Greyhound who rushes up to greet you, but underneath her uncertainty is a gentle girl who simply needs someone willing to give her time, patience and reassurance. With the right person by her side, we hope to see this lovely girl blossom into a much more confident companion. 🐾
